The AWFUL Effects of Meniere's Disease/Syndrome

My Dear Deanna was diagnosed with Meniere's Disease in 2001/2002. Meniere's is a condition where the inner ear fluid is either too thick or possibly overfull. The only way to know for sure is during an autopsy after death. Meniere's is diagnosed by a elimination of any other disease. There is no actual test or whatever to diagnose Meniere's (MD). Deanna started back in 2001 out of the blue. Extreme Vertigo, and following the Vertigo, Nausea, Vomiting, and exhaustion. Her primary care physician reffered her to an ENT, who tried various treatments and test. The best results, or should I say the only results came from a medication called Antivert. Antivert and Phenegran became her constant companions for 7 months. She did not drive. She was in Bed most of the time except to take a shower or go to the bathroom. At times the vertigo was so bad, she would have to crawl on her hands and knees and I would tap on her shoulder to turn one way or the other. Finally, about 5-6 years ago, it improved, and went into remission. Every now or then she could turn one way or the other too quick and have a moment of spin. The experts say that it will finally go away after 15-20 years. Of course, the things that help are, (and you already know) Quit Smoking, ELIMINATE STRESS< yeah right > No Caffiene, get excercise, lose weight if you need to,yada yada. Recently, she was stressed out of her mind by one of the Grandkids, she told me some highlights but have held some details back. Last week, The Meniere's is Back DAMN IT. She is living on Antivert/Phenegran. I hope it subsides, she is miserable. I am doing all I can to help her. I will write more as time passes, Mitch
